February 15th Momo Workshop
The Co-Op Kitchen is meant to be a Community Kitchen, and for several months a local Tibetan Momo market vendor has been preparing their momos in our space. In the spirit of community collaboration the Momo team will walk you through the wonderful art of hand-made momo making! We will hear the story of Tibetan dumplings while preparing both veggie and beef momos. We will also prepare traditional momo dipping sauce! You will leave with the recipes and a dozen or so momos to take home to eat fresh or to put in your freezer. We will also have some traditional steaming baskets available if your kitchen is inecplicably lacking this versatile cooking aid!
You will learn about the theory and practice of dumpling making, gain hands-on experience working with steaming equipment, and leave with some fresh community-made momos!
The workshop will be held at WEFC's Co-op kitchen at 1229 queen
The workshop will run from 1:00-4:00 with registration starting at 12:45. The cost (including HST) for the workshop is $50 for West End Food Co-op members or $55 for non-members (which includes the cost of a lifetime membership). Payment can be made in person at the workshop.
If you register and find yourself unable to attend for any reason please let us know as soon as possible. Please be aware that we are a small organization running workshops on a cost-recovery basis and purchasing ingredients in advance from local farmers. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged a $25 cancellation fee to cover ingredient, material, and labour costs.
