Sorauren Farmers' Market Monday & Canning Workshop Tuesday

Monday Market

Spring is nearly here! Stop by the Sorauren Field House on Monday for the first Farmers' Market in March. As always our vendors will be offering up a selection of fresh produce, baked goods, naturally raised meats, prepared foods and more!

Community Cannery
Cracks are starting to show in Toronto's winter as March blows in; and the West End Food Co-op is plowing ahead into its fourth year! We just completed All You Can, the Community Cannery Toolkit based on our experiences and activities in last year's Preserving Parkdale Project. The Co-op also completed a feasibility study for the community kitchen in February, and recently received important funding support from the Co-operatives Secretariat for the next two years to work with the producer members for an expanded processing program.

The toolkit, written by Katie Sandwell with support from others, includes budget, templates, workshop designs, recipes and planning tools to help like-minded organizations and other communities start their own community canneries. This will be available soon to other non-profits with a food focus. Please contact us at info@westendfood.coop if you are interested.

The Winter workshop series is continuing-with a mixed vegetable pickle for the Lunar New Year in February, and an upcoming workshop March 8 focusing on red onion jam made with local Ontario onions. Spaces fill up fast, so go here to register now.

We want to hear from you!

We are rolling out two surveys soon, one for producers and one for consumers and community members about theWestend Food Co-op and the Sorauren Farmers' Market; please give us your two cents online, or come fill one out in person at the market. Stay tuned to our website and next mailing for more details.

Get Involved!

We can always use more volunteers-- you can sign up to join the volunteer pool, and tell us what you'd like to do here. To support your co-op you can donate online now.
