WEFC Finds A Home!
The West End Food Co-op has great news! We have found a home! WEFC is partnering with the Parkdale Community Health Centre (PCHC) and opening our co-op grocery store (and kitchen) in the lower level of PCHC, just West of Dufferin on Queen St. We are launching a fundraising campaign to raise the money needed to prepare the space, build the kitchen, put in bathrooms, purchase equipment, hire staff, and everything else needed to open the store. Farmers' Market Monday 3-7pm
More vendors joining in every week and so much great food to be had, plus seeds and seedlings to grow your own! This week along with everyone else we have 1 brand new vendor and 3 returnees. Newly at Sorauren Farmers' Market, Earth and City prepare mostly delicious raw, all vegan food. Cassandra from Earth and City says "All of our ingredients are thoughtfully chosen to ensure we are engaging in a fair-trade, ecologically-sound, and locally-supported food network."
Returning are Forbes Wild Foods (with fiddleheads, other wild edibles, maple syrup, and more), Country Meadows (seedlings and potted herbs, goat cheeses, olive oil, ...), and Exact Edge (Sharpening - knives and more).
In addition to Shiitake & Blue Oyster mushrooms…Deer Valley Farm now has Brown Oyster mushrooms available also. Orders for specific cuts of fresh venison or to reserve fresh poultry to be picked up at the market may be made by email: dvf@venison.ca or through the website: www.venison.ca
Sign Up For Our Community Supported Orchard
There are still spaces left in WEFC's CSO. Led by preservers James and Heather one evening every 2 weeks, make pickles, jams, sauces, chutneys, jarred peaches, pears, and more. Making Your Own Biodiesel Workshop, May 14 12-3:30
This Saturday, Ethical Biz will be hosting a workshop on producing your own biodiesel fuel using household fryer oil at the Dufferin Grove Community Centre. Admission is PWYC with a suggested donation of $20. For more information visit the Facebook event page.
