Important Membership Vote Today For all WEFC members - a reminder to please come to the farmers' market for an important membership vote today at 6 pm; please check in and get your ballot for this meeting before 6 at the WEFC info table, then meet in the centre circle at 6 pm sharp. Please note that you must be a member for 30 days in order to vote. This is a vote to change our quorum for co-op membership meetings. We sent a letter from our Board President explaining the meeting last week via email to all members - please refer to that for details (included at the bottom of this newsletter). MARKET NEWSCheck out what Clover Roads Organic Farm has at the market today. We mistakenly left them off the vendor list to the right for a few week... They are still at market with lovely greens, sweet winter squash, and more, plus they're your source for duck, goose, or pheasant. It's a great time to stock up on squash, root veggies, apples, cabbage and more, but don't forget all the great greens still to be had - some of them (like kale) are even better once they've had a little frost. Kind Organics is bringing kale chips, apple chips, and kombucha this week to go along with all their greens and sprouts. Enjoy the last couple out door markets with us before we go in to the fieldhouse for the colder months. Community Groups this week:
Remember you can support our ability to increase access to preserving with our community partners for those who wouldn’t otherwise afford to do so at Small Change Fund.

Notice of Important Meeting for WEFC Members Monday October 24th at Market Important Message from your Board Tuesday, October 18, 2011 Dear Members, Please come to the market for an important membership vote October 24th at 6 pm; please check in and get your ballot for this meeting before 6 at the WEFC table, then meet in the centre circle at 6 pm sharp. As many of you may already know, our Co-op has an error in its By-Laws which require at least 51% of members to attend our Annual General Meeting in order for the Co-op to have a quorum and conduct its legally required annual business. Our Co-op has grown quickly in the last year and we now have more than 500 members – having more than half (250) attend a meeting is very difficult, if not impossible. No other co-op with a large membership numbers has this kind of quorum for an AGM. As you may be aware, we attempted to have an AGM this week but could not as we did not reach the 51% quorum. This mistake is ours (those of us who registered the co-op with the province) but it is extremely important that you help us to fix it. The Board passed a motion – in keeping with Provincial Co-op regulations – to call for another meeting on:
Since we did not achieve quorum at the first meeting we can have another meeting on Monday, October 24th at which we must have at least 130 members in attendance. In that meeting we can vote to change the By-Law to allow us to have an AGM with fewer people. At that point we can carry on the legally required business of the co-op. Please help us to fix this error by attending the meeting on Monday, October 24, 2011 at Sorauren Park Farmers’ Market and by bringing with you everyone you know who is a member. Thanks. Look forward to seeing you there!
