Co-op Welcomes New Staff

We’re thrilled to welcome Lynn Bishop as the Co-op’s new Coordinator. Lynn has a long history of work and leadership in sustainable agriculture, co-ops and food security as one of the founding staff members of the Everdale Environmental Learning Centre, more recently as a founder of the Everpure Biodiesel Co-op, and as a staff member at Local Food Plus. She recently graduated as one of the first cohort with the new Co-op Management Certificate from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
She and her mom joined us last week at the awesome Ride for Real Food, over hill and dale to Matchbox Garden—a fitting beginning to her Co-op work (see photo). She starts this week; come by the WEFC table at the market and help us welcome her to the Co-op!

Ride for Real Food Rolls On!
After the huge success last week of the first annual Ride for Real Food, we’re already starting plans for the next one—but in the meantime, if you meant to pledge but haven’t had time, the Riders still have their pages up for the next month so you can still visit us online or at the market and get your pledges in to support the community kitchen!

A big thank you to Bike Pirates for providing tune-ups for the Riders for Real Food (and for others at the market too!). Bike Pirates is a volunteer-run, non-profit community workspace (@ Lansdowne and Bloor) which strives to educate and empower cyclists. They provide a Do-It-Yourself workspace on a Pay-What-You-Can basis, and sell refurbished bicycles too!
