Our Market

"I believe in buying local whenever possible and like to support the farmers nearby. I like the freshness of the produce as well as the community feel."
A market participant

"Did you ever stop to taste a carrot? Not just eat it but taste it? You can’t taste the beauty and the energy of the earth in a Twinkie.
"
Astrid Alauda

The Sorauren Farmers’ Market was founded by the Co-op in 2008. The market features local producers, locally grown fruits and vegetables, spring nursery plants and wildcrafted foods. There is also a selection of prepared foods, artisan breads, pastries and preserves, all made locally with locally grown and processed ingredients.

The market is lively, with children’s activities on some days, live music, potlucks and of course lots of amazing food.

As part of our commitment to local food, preference is given to Greenbelt farmers, and we actively promote new farmers and small, local and sustainable producers. Many of our farmers come from the FarmStart program.

As a producer-focused market, vendors only offer goods for sale which they have produced themselves.

The Co-op provides reusable mugs for drinking water at the Market, and reduces or eliminates disposable utensils or plates for potlucks and other events.

Join us during the season (May-October) every Monday from 3-7 p.m. at Sorauren Park. For more information please contact Ayal: ayal@westendfood.coop.
